Selfish Malaysian

Being Malaysian is the next best thing happen to me.  A country full of diversity and consistently growing towards improvement. Now let see the ugly part of Malaysia. The keyword “SELFISH” will be the post for today. How selfish can Malaysian be in their daily life? Let me show you how three main races in Malaysia can be selfish enough to make other Malaysian miserable.

1)We shall start with our Majority group. These people are so particular about food. They have to fulfill halal requirement in order consume their food. No harm in that since it is compulsory in religious practice. They are too particular about Halal, to the extent that major portion of them do not go to a Chinese restaurant since the food might have contact with PORK which is “Haram” for Muslims. No harm in that also. Everyone respect your believes and follows. But they tend to forget that other races have such restrictions as well. Indian who follows Hindus religion does not eat “BEEF” or any product made out of cow. But still we can see that Beef served exactly beside chicken in almost every Malay Restaurant. Won’t they feel the same as how you feel about pork being kept near your food and eating at Chinese restaurant? There were circumstances where beef served in an official event and when there are Hindu participants questioning “Why beef? We can’t eat beef you know”, they will like “Ei, Korang tak makan daging ke, sorry sorry”. Is this the type of Ignorance we need in Malaysia?

2)Second of all, let’s see how our Chinese brothers and sisters make use of their selfishness. One word, “TRAFFIC”. This may seem like a stereotype but we will come across of this situation a lot in Malaysian roads. You may make your own judgement. First of all, most Chinese friends here use big and luxurious cars. What happens is tolerance of giving way for vehicle to enter in front of them. The distance might be reasonable for cars from left to enter right lane, but once this Chinese friend in right lane sees someone wants to enter in front of him, he will accelerate to the max not to give way for that friend from left lane. I don’t see how many seconds get delayed giving the poor man space to enter. In addition, if they had to change lane they will enter blindly by just putting signal (sometime no indicators) and expect others to give way for them. Next is the use of emergency lane as extra lane when heavy traffic jams. The ignorance takes place where emergency lanes are mostly used by motorcyclist to travel. They don’t give damn and use the emergency lane to move faster than other vehicles, forgetting the fact that everyone is in hurry. The worst of all they don’t care to use the left and right signal when changing lanes. Even they got honked; they pretend not to hear it. Basically every other race also does these mistakes as well, but our Chinese friend will be the professional leader in this case. Is this the type of Ignorance we need in Malaysia?

3)Finally, let us see our Macha, how his selfish acts creates nuisance for others. Whether it’s “Thaipusam” or “Thiruvila”(Temple annual celebration), only thing that run in their mind is alcohol and dance party in public. They place drink stall along the roads, and play a loud song with their extreme woofer so that they get people’s attention. They’ll just start to dance at every stall and dance like bunch of monkeys and scream their lungs out. And they call that “FUN”. If one stare at those groups of monkeys with hatred and the next thing you see is your head get chopped off. It supposed to be a holy event. Those who live in the surrounding gets disturbed by the noise made.  Worst of all, the drunken monkeys move around disturb the public. I think they can get all that in a PUB and DISCO rather creating your own DISCO and PUB at public. And the recent trend is that having the hand blower and blows the horn during at Thaipusam day. This is not football stadium; it is temple and a place to fulfill your religious responsibility. You are creating public nuisance by honking around. Is this the type of Ignorance we need in Malaysia?

Being Malaysian is not only about standing still for Negaraku and wishing Happy Merdeka during Independence Day. It’s about understanding each other and giving mutual comfort. Being selfish will only create Chaos not Solution. Every single one of us has flaws towards each other. Let’s rectify and create a more understanding society. Let’s throw away our selfish nature and work towards self-belongingness..  Malaysia Tanah Airku…..

Private & Confidential : Government's Anti-Bersih Plan

A very important piece of document was unearthed today. Blogger RPK has published in his website Malaysia Today a letter, which was signed on June 17th from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) which appears to be the Ministry's guideline on how to tackle the Bersih juggernaut. Read and judge for yourself .

"

YB Datuk,

Attached please find the guidance/messaging on the Bersih issue for your attention and action, where necessary.

This follows the UMNO Political Bureau meeting where this issue was also discussed and that this material be circulated to all bureau members.

Please note that the usual confidentiality rule applies.

Please do not forward or disseminate it to unauthorised person/persons.

Thank you and best regards

Jalil Hamid

Head, National Communications Team, PMO

GUIDANCE ON KEY ISSUES No 8/2011

Issue: BERSIH 2.0

By most accounts, the Bersih 2.0 protest on July 9 could turn out to be massive and will certainly go beyond issues of fair and free elections. With over 100 political, NGO and right groups could be joining the “March for Democracy”, we expect them to champion a slew of issues ranging from inflation to Teoh Beng Hock and Lynas. The protest, if not countered, could undermine the government, the economy and national security. This note sets out the policy guidance and the do’s and don’ts in managing the issue.

Advisory

The process of mind-conditioning will continue in the run-up to July 9. The process will include:
1. Discredit the organisation and its key leaders. Bersih is neither registered with ROS nor ROC. It is NOT an election watchdog but a group of politicians and politically inclined individuals who lack credibility.
2. Label the rally as “perhimpunan haram” or “illegal assembly”, and that the people behind Bersih are trouble shooters and going against the Constitution and the law to gain political mileage.
3. That they are just a front for the opposition.
4. Since DSAI is already “out of the race” for premiership, he has to resort to street protests because PR can’t win GE13 through ballot boxes. He is seeking a “short-cut” to Putrajaya via undemocratic and unconstitutional means. Remind people about his Sept 16 bluff.
5. DSAI is also using this to shift the public attention away from his legal and moral woes.
6. Create anxiety that Bersih is working for the interests of foreign elements, who are out to destabilise the country.
7. That BERSIH is not bersih (clean) after all as it is an illegal group out to create havoc.

Do’s and Don’ts

1. KDN Minister, IGP, DIG and Internal Security and Public Order Director to brief media editors at KDN. Use the meeting to reinforce the branding as “perhimpunan haram”, that Bersih is an unlawful organisation and the perpetrators are out to create chaos.
2. KDN, which has jurisdiction over all print media, needs to exert its authority in ensuring the press toe the line.
3. Confine politicians to just making political statements. Let the police do their job.
4. PDRM can start calling up Bersih organisers based on the hundreds of police reports lodged so far.
5. Encourage the use of 3rd party validators.
6. Pre-empt chaos and disorder (fear paradigm). The “show of force” by UMNO or silat groups well before July 9 may be imperative to deter demonstrators.
7. The soundbytes in our favour MUST come from across the country and across the ethnic lines. The soundbytes should not just be confined to the Malays or those residing in the Klang Valley.
8. We must not allow the rally to be exploited by international elements.
9. As a pre-emptive measure, the authorities should stop the launch of Perhimpunan Bersih 2.0 scheduled for 19 June at the Chinese Assembly Hall. Likewise, a related Perkasa event called “Lawan Perhimpunan Bersih” at the Sultan Sulaiman Club on the same day should also be halted.
10. SPR should counter Bersih demands for free and fair elections by highlighting the various initiatives it has undertaken so far. Use the highly successful Sarawak PRN as its model. It should not meet up with Bersih people.

Recommended media treatment

1. Media to highlight stories of how businesses, retailers, tourists, shoppers, motorists and ordinary people will be affected. (July is the peak month for Arab tourist arrivals; plus the top three EPL teams will also be in town in July). Malaysia will be in bad light if the teams skip KL on security grounds.
2. Question the source of funding for Bersih.
3. The media will primarily be targeting the trio: DSAI (who is capitalising on this ahead of his July 15 Sodomy 2 trial), the newly minted PAS deputy chief Mat Sabu (who is the budak suruhan DSAI and tali barut DAP) and Ambiga.
4. We will encourage the media to use file photos of Ambiga with PR leaders to highlight her close association with them. Ambiga has the history of leading street protests when she was Bar Council president.
5. The media to use less of the same old faces (eg Zul Nordin, Zahrain, Ibrahim Ali) as “attack dogs.” Try to tap fresh faces (eg BN Youth leaders, some NGOs).
6. Friendly bloggers and cybertroopers will continue to be mobilised.
7. TV stations to constantly play up images of ugly demos in other countries.

Desired outcome

1. Neutralise the opposition noise.
2. Reinforce the view that public sentiment is NOT with Bersih and the opposition.
3. Send a strong message that the government is full control of the situation, that it will not tolerate trouble makers and those who undermine the rule of law.
4. No apparent adverse impact on investor confidence or Malaysia’s political risks.

Leadership Crisis in Malaysia

As I was born and brought up in Malaysia, I always wanted a peaceful and safe country. Building a nation is not an easy job. No matter what people say, politic is the mastermind of all national’s agenda. Well I accept that politic is dirty, full of lies, and so on. But, every citizen’s fate is decided by the politicians chosen by the people.

Recently, I conducted an informal research on how many leaders, especially politic leaders whom graduated from the Institut Pengajian Tinggi Awam(IPTA). This research is to know how far our education system could produce caliber leaders.

Let us start from the highest rank which is the Prime Minister. Since 1957 till now, we had six PMs. Can u believe that only 1 PM is from IPTA which turn out to be Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed from Universiti Malaya (UM). While the rest are graduates from overseas.

To my surprise, only less than 20 % of the current cabinet decided on 9th of April 2009 are from IPTA. These are the ministers from IPTA :
IPTA
TOTAL
MINISTER
UM
9
-Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education)
-Tan Sri Nor Mohd Yakoop (Ministers in the Prime Minister's Department:   Economic Planning Unit)
-Dato’ Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah (Minister of Finance II)
-Dato’ Seri Khaled Nordin (Minister of Higher Education)
-Dato’ Ahmad Shabery Cheek (Minister of Youth and Sports)
-Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism)
-Dato’ Seri Sharizat Abdul Jalil (Minister of Women, Family and Community Development)
-Datuk SK Devamany (Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department)
- Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (Minister of Defence)
UKM
3
-Datuk Ahmad Maslan ( Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department)
-Dato’ Razali Ibrahim (Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports)
-Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (Minister of Health)
UTM
1
- Datuk  Dr. Wee Ka Siong (Deputy of Education Minister)

If we look into the Opposition coalition, only a few are from IPTA, whom are Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim (UM), Sivarasa(UM), Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Khalid Ibrahim (UM), Teresa Kok (USM), Nasharuddin Mat Isa (UiTM), and Hatta Ramli (UKM). While the rest are again surprisingly graduates from overseas(I could not find all the details of the opposition leaders).

In conclusion, it clearly proves that there are only a few leaders from local universities. Is our education system still capable to produce quality leaders or we still have to depend on overseas graduates to rule our country? We really hope our local universities will buck up to produce more outstanding leaders in the coming years.
